Grouse
Grouse is a common bird of the pheasant family. Males look noticeably larger than females — their length is 49-58 cm, their weight is 1.0-1.4 kg, while the same indicators for females are 40-45 cm and 0.7-1.0 kg, respectively. The male is easily recognizable by his brilliant black plumage with a purple or green tint on his head, neck, goiter and loin, and bright red eyebrows. The primary flight feathers are dark brown, with so-called "mirrors" — white spots in the lower half of the first to fifth feathers. The mirrors are even more pronounced on the secondary flight feathers, where they occupy most of the wing. The tail's tail feathers are black with a purple sheen at the tips; the extreme tail feathers are strongly bent to the sides, which makes the tail lyre-shaped. The female is mottled, reddish-brown with transverse gray, dark yellow and black-brown stripes. Outwardly, she looks like a female grouse, but differs from her with white "mirrors" on the wings and a small notch on the tail.
